It was not until the mid 1600's that the coffee bean migrated to the British Colonies in North America. At that time, tea was the drink that served a majority of the local Americans. Coffee houses were popular, however it was the advent of Parliament's desire to raise funds in support of the French and Indian War, that a tax on tea was established. With the colonial revolt, known as the American Revolution, coffee became a main staple of the American diet.
Montrose has a variety of coffee houses that cater to every taste and desire for a fresh cup of Java.
